      At this point I do not know if boxwood is actually from a boxwood hedge or if it is a wood that is used to make boxes. Buy a piece of White Birch from a hardwood supply house, cut it to the shape and size you want and try it out. It might be exactly what you have been looking for. The barbecue skewers that were previously mentioned are actually bamboo. I bought a couple of bundles of them from the grocery store for next to nothing and use them for all sorts of things from cleaning sticks to small tool handles.

        Boxwood is from the hedges of the same name.

          Ok… I found a supplier who sells genuine boxwood tools at a cheap price. These are already small and can be dressed into any geometry that you might need for polishing.
