I’m planning on buying a Sherline lathe but am confused as to which I should buy.  I’m in U.S. but it seems most measurements are made metric and that might be more applicable.  I do work on mostly American clocks.

My suggestion is buy metric and a digital calliper and micrometer so you can easily convert to imperial, my reasoning is that most clocks apart from American and very early clocks  are Thury, metric or BA ( even BA is based upon the metric measurement ) but that is my personal opinion, I have an English Pultra P type and both metric & imperial collets and I use both regularly.

Thank you for your thoughts.  I already have a digital caliper and a micrometer.   Just will have to get both types of collets.
