Any ideas why a watch keeps perfect time throughout the day but slows down and loses time when the date is going to change? Client has it wound so its not a case of it not having enough power. Thanks

        Hi Chaplin,
Sounds like there may be some resistance in the date changing mech. or possibly not enough power due to wear, dirt etc. Most balances are adjusted to be isochronic but in reality the watch itself will often fall short of this when the balance amplitude drops to very low levels since the unlocking requires some inertia to take place. At low balance amplitude the inertia available to unlock the escapement has dropped off considerably. Am I making any sense or do I need to drink another cup of coffee this morning and try again? :D
Might want to check the amplitude when the watch is entering and passing through the date change process.

        Bob
