Pretty cool article. Watchmakers in their shops and some at their benches. Also gives their ages.

hmm, been a bad couple of weeks for me, and since my shop is under construction, I have been hitting the ol Youtube for a distraction to my issues, several of those Watchmakers on that list were among those that I was watching, there is a series on Master Watch making, and Baselwood (Watchmakers Convention in Basel Switzerland), very interesting, Steffan Pahlow was another.. might have to pick up his book on case making.

A lot of those videos show the shops and the hand crank tools they use.. amazing.. I mean I have watched so many videos this week and over half have been in a other languages, so I have no idea what they are saying, just watching what they are doing, and how.. it plants seeds into your mind on ways projects or tools to acquire

            All:

Where are the US watchmakers? They do exist. Hmmm….

            Thanks!

Roland Murphy produces beautiful high end watches and is located in or near Lancaster Pennsylvania. It looks to me like a typical arrogant European snub to leave him off of that list.

Interesting point David considering the article was written by an American albeit living in the UK!

Thanks Bob, When I look at this kind of stuff I get upset….Dont get me wrong, I am happy for those guys to have had the instruments and knowledge to accomplish their goals…I know its not good to compare…BUT…I realize how little I am and how much I have to learn to get even close, I sometimes wish I had started 20 years ago,…. even then I suppose,…. with my tiny brain, I may only be where I am now 🙄 …..William

In other words it is interesting that Michael Clerizo decided to live in the UK instead of Lancaster Pennsylvania. Imagine that! 🙄

Sorry for my ignorance but you have completely lost me now, can you please explain what this has to do with your original post on the list being something to do with a “typical arrogant European snub”?

They way you have worded your post David is exactly why, at times I take issue with you. Is this you stating that Europeans are arrogant or just the European watch industry and those who write about it?

                      Paul.
