I just completed a heavy sterling hinge pin ring. What does this have to do with watchmaking you might ask? Well, I figured that if I can make one of these then I should be able to handle a pocket watch case hinge soldering job. I’ve been told by several jewelers that making a hinge is one of the most difficult jobs to get right. After five unsuccessful attempts I can now attest to the validity of that statement.
