      Mahlon,
      I always thought Taig lathes were made in the USA. I just checked and they are and have been for over 30 years. The Harbor Freight tools are made in China but both Sherline and Taig are made here. I am glad you brought it up because I never thought they were made anyhere except the USA.

        Thanks David, this is what happens when I assume. You are right, the taig is made in the U.S.A.. I was confusing the Taig, with the presision lathe sold on e-bay, from China. I did a search for the Taig. I am impressed. It seems to be a very sturdy tool. I have never run a metal lathe. I do use an old Delta wood lathe once in awhile. Being self taught, I am not all that good at it. I do appreciate your post, it gives me something to think about
