Not able to identify clock movement so cannot search for replacement escape wheel which is 30 teeth,43mm diameter 40mm arbor length.Any help identifying movement will be appreciated
I have seen these strap type movements but wouldn’t know where to start with identifying one, unless there’s some kind of clockmakers trademark or insignia stamped on the plate somewhere. Do you see anything like that anywhere? That wheel would probably be a very tough one to locate even with the movement ID.
Is it possible to repair the wheel? Of course if it’s too far gone you could always try to have one made. I’ve had to go that route several times.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi Dean

There is a name scribed on the retaining plate holding the strike wheel in place behind where crutch hangs down. It is shown in photo included in original post. The name looks like Dolphin or delphinium and appears to be only markings anywhere on movement.Regarding Escape wheel-it has 7 leaves on arbor and looks very much like a standard wheel for the period perhaps I could get used one to recondition if I could get closer to identifying similar movements.Thank you for your help.Robert
Thanks for posting that Robert. Unfortunately I’m not finding anything in any of the online databases. I’m away from my books at home so not able to check those.
Sure wish I could help.
From the one picture of the wheel it’s hard to tell the damage. All I can see is a possible broken pivot?
Well, maybe someone else up here might be of help. Best of luck to you Robert!
Hi Dean
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thank you for your efforts. It may not be obvious from the photo but the escape wheel has had a hard life and many of the teeth have lost their ends and together with the broken pivot definately would not operate properly. The only answer seems to be a remake or reconditioning of a second hand wheel.

Regards Robert
