John.August 10, 2014 at 5:04 pm #59038John, Glad to help if I can. I’ve been turning on a wood lathe for about 10 years and the sherline is my first metal lathe and I found out very fast that there is no comparison. I have used my Sherline on a few clock pivots and they came out pretty good. The lathe is built very good and its tight. It is also very precise. I don’t know a thing about Tiag, don’t even know if I spelled it right, never heard of them til I came here but Sherline has been around for some time and what sold me was the fact that they are built in the usa and I can get service right here. I think the Tiag is also. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. the sherline is not toy, but a tool and a well built tool that I think you will be happy with. I almost made the mistake of buying a used lathe on ebay, but I came on this forum and talked to the guys, I was convinced to buy a new one. Researched them a lot and came up with the Sherline. I can send you the sellers address if you need, not sure they sell them across the water..Any questions , just ask away..I enclosed a pic, the package I bought included the Jacobs chuck and the 3-jaw chuck, 4 is better but this one was free,, sort of
