Iam getting ready to replace the mainsprings in a Newhaven clock and I would like to hear opinions for quality made mainsprings and where to purchase same . I have heard bad things about those springs made in India. Thanks. Carl

Bernie, Paul, William, Bob and a whole bunch of other people on this forum are professional clock experts. Your post may have fallen through the cracks but I know that any number of the clock guys can provide the information you need.
davidFebruary 1, 2015 at 6:00 pm #61614Carl I buy my mainsprings from Timesavers. Their prices are pretty good and they have good quality springs. You can also buy them from Ronell Clocks, Merritt Antiques, and R & M Imports.
February 3, 2015 at 1:44 pm #61615Hey Carl,
being stuck on this side of the pond I buy “Trifix” mainsprings from Cousins. I have tried cheaper mainsprings but they seem to lose some of their elasticity almost immediately.
Paul.February 3, 2015 at 6:33 pm #61616Paul is right and I forgot to mention don’t buy cheap. On simple 3/4″ X .0165″ X 96″ I buy the higher priced springs. Those cheap 3 to 5 dollar springs just don’t hold up. I ate a couple of jobs using those springs.
