Hi… I am attempting to replace the roller table on a double roller Illinois 16s grade 707 model 9.
The roller shoulder on the staff is quite large – 1.1mm. I am having difficulty finding a roller punch or stump
large enough to press the roller back on the stump. The only stumps I have with clearance for a roller jewel
are much smaller. I have a Favorite staking set. I was looking on google and ebay to see if there is something
large enough to help me set this roller. Any advice??
I’m using a K & D Inverto staking set which has the added benefit of allowing one to use a punch as a stump. Does yours allow for this? If not, then you should be able to turn one on your lathe out of tool steel and then harden it.
