Hello all, hope you are well and are having a prosperous New Year. I have a simple question, I think. I have some really cruddy watch movements. The are bad, and I am not sure how many will amount to anything. If I remove the Balance assembly and the Pallet, is there some way i can give them a preliminary cleaning, just to get the gunk and stuff off? I will be getting to them as soon as they are clean enough to work on. I liken this to quirting a good degreaser on my car engine and hosing it off before I see to the problem. (when they made cars I could work on). Thanks all for the help………….b

Hi B, you can give them a dunk in something like brake and clutch cleaner but please bear in mind it will get into the barrel, although it will dry out eventualy. Certainly dont dunk anything in this stuff that has shellac as I am sure it will dissolve it quickly.
        Paul.
