All:
I thought that it might be good to have a new section dedicated to the posting of plans, links, etc. for the fabrication of watchmaking/clockmaking tools. It seems to get a lot of attention on the board. My thoughts were that it might be easier look up different postings if they are seperated out. Clearly, its going to add more administrative time and labor so I understand that will be a consideration.
Just a thought…

Wouldn’t TIPS AND TRICKS already cover that?
davidApril 7, 2013 at 3:24 pm #53419Hi Tmac,
David is quite right, “Tips and Tricks” would be the place for this type of info. Bob wants to keep the forum as simple as possible so people like me dont get too confused
With the headings we have already it should just about cover what we do. I did wonder if seperating the main forum into two would be useful i.e. clocks / watches but a lot of the information is quite useful to both and even if some of the board members dont do clocks but do watches, or vice versa, they still like to read what others are posting.
Good work on the drawing by the way, looks great to me but David is the person to help on this one
Paul.April 12, 2013 at 12:44 pm #53420Good suggestion Tmac.
You’re right about more targeted forums making searching easier for some. As the forum membership and participation grows we will possibly add new forums over time but I’m very cautious about doing this as having too many forums can cause division between communities (or a disconnect between interests as Paul suggested) often leading to the demise or ‘near death inactivity’ of many start up forums. I added three new forums about 11 months ago and thought I would watch them over a one year period to see how they do. So far they seem to be doing ok but at this point still a little reluctant to add anything new. We’ve received many good new forum suggestions from members over the past couple of years and I want you all to know that we haven’t forgotten them. Still just waiting for the right moment to start adding them.
I too think that the “Tips & Tricks” section would cover the plans idea pretty well for now. If the interest in this subject grows then it could be merged into a new forum dedicated to that topic in the future.Adios for now and thanks for the suggestion Tmac!
