I am working on my first clock. When I took it apart I could not tell where all the parts were. I was able to get everything back except for one part. It is a Seth Thomas clock with chimes and is spring powered. On the inner side of the of the back plate there is a flat curved piece secured to the back with a rivet and it has a post in one end. It seem to be a counter weight but I cannot seem to determine just where it fits. Does any one have a diagram that shows where this piece fits in the chime system?

        Welcome to the forum lpotts,
I think you may be referring to the counter weight that allows for the hands to be turned backwards on a time and strike.
Take a look at this pdf and let us know if that helps.

Thanks, that is the only way I could see just wanted to know if there might be some other option. Also it is helpful to know what it is for.
