I have clocks that need cleaning. Unfortunately I have acquired Parkinson’s which due to hand tremor precludes handling small parts. Can I obtain a fluid which will both clean and lubricate a 50s mantel clock movement immersed in it?. I know it’s not the best way but approaching 90 years of age I’m not looking for a long time “fix”. Mike.
Not sure about the lubrication part, but Simple green in my ultrasonic cleaner does a great job with brass movements. Sometimes, I run the cleaner for two 8-minute sessions if the brass is tarnished more, but usually the brass comes out clean and shiny. It works best with an ultrasonic cleaner. I got mine at Harbor Freight for $68. And well work it.
