      Update on lathe motors. I just looked up Dayton Motors and the prices have gone up considerably since 1972. I then went to Ebay and found some low cost motors that will power a watchmaker lathe: 350722613909 motor with foot control $28.95 dollars + free shipping, 111096649172 motor with foot control and light $29.95 + free shipping, 400381749639 industrial machine motor including speed control and pulley $115.00 + $15.00 shipping, 290756003939 1/4 inch pulley for small sewing machine motors about $6.00 dollars.

        Thanks for sharing David. Anybody needing a good motor these would do the job. I got one a couple of years ago for $12.95 for motor and foot pedal. It has served me well.
