Subject says it all.  I would assume that the pressure that would be on this pivot would make it hard to drill it out and replace.

Would I have to replace the entire arbor if I could find one to match?

        Hi Carol,

I would suggest replacing the entire arbor. You are correct that the tension is extreme and reworking an old winding arbor may work short term, but could be quite dangerous. If this is an old American clock, you may be able to buy a junk movement on ebay and salvage what you need. Save the rest of the parts and they can be useful in the future. If you want new, Timesavers might have something.

        Good Luck!

        Mike
