I am on my third Hermle movement and I always have trouble with the chime side getting started or running too slow. Is there a common issue with this that I am not aware of? The hammers, the chime train, all run freely when not connected to the other. The movement has been cleaned and I only saw one bushing that I felt needed replacement. And the springs seem to be fine. Any help is appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Howard

I would really like to hear the answer you get on the power issue because I’ve had the exact same issue.

            From the Hermle Service manual:

            1151 Chain lyre ped <165 mm—Time train4.7 lbs/Striking train4.7 lbs/Chiming train7.3 lbs

            1151 Sec hand and/or lyre >165mm—7.3/4.7/7.3 respectively

            Hope this is helpful!

Sounds familiar. I have a Hermle triple chime grandfather clock movement with a hang-up issue.  The clock works great but the chimes will run fine for a while (hours/day) then hang up. That is, they will fail to start at the quarter hour.  I hear a click but the locking cam does not turn, thus no chimes.  I am learning a lot from this course and maybe I will find out what is causing this problem.  I am beginning to suspect a bent pin or something like that.  Any ideas?
