Is it possible or likely that a floating balance clock spring will sag with age?  Seems the escapement is now contacting the underside of the wheel and stopping the clock.

        Hello Dan

I don’t remember ever seeing a floating balance spring that’s sagged on it’s own. There are several reasons components can occasionally make contact and drag. The spring height is adjusted from the top, lifting it just high enough for the balance to float.

Here’s a link to a pretty good Hermle floating balance pdf file that might be helpful – http://www.atmosman.com/pdf/hermle.pdf

        Good luck Dan!

        Hope it helps.

        Best,   Dean
