Can one fit a hunting case movement into an open face case? What distinguishes a hunting case from an open face movement?

      Regards

Hi Michael. A full hunter has a cover that completely covers the dial. A half hunter has a hole cut out of this cover so it half protects the dial. You could fit another movement into a hunter case as long as it is the same size and thickness.

Paul, is a hunter case movement different from an open face one?

A hunter case movement has the stem at 3 o-clock, an open face movement has the stem at 12 o-clock. Fitting a hunter case movement into an open face case creates a “side-winder”. Technically you can do it (it will fit), but it’s not correct, and you’re better off IMHO waiting to get the right case for the right movement.

I agree with you. Thank you for the info.
