First spring repair

Hello, everyone and Merry Christmas to you all. It’s all about Jesus.
Well, this is my first encounter with a broken mainspring. It’s a barrel spring out of a rather odd Bango clock. I have search long to find a similar one but no luck. It’s an Urgos movement but I couldn’t find one like it anywhere.
My question is; If I shorten the spring by about 1 3/4″ or 2″, Is that going to be a problem? It’s the strike side spring. Also, I was wondering if these springs may be set. The barrels are 1 1/2″ Dia. the springs don’t seem to be very large and I’m not sure yet how long this clock will run before winding.
