Does anyone have the listing for the 118 balance and /or hairspring ?
Is it the same as the Grade 119, or other 11J movements ?Thanks
Randy
August 20, 2014 at 8:12 pm #59042Hey Randy it’s been a while. Good to see you.
I believe the balance assemblies are identical but just the stem config. is changed for OF and HC like the Unitas 6497 and 6498. Don’t hold me to it though. I’ve got some old catalogs here that I’ll go through to see if I can dig up that info for you tonight.Bob
August 20, 2014 at 9:02 pm #59043Well so far I’ve found nothing that supports what I said about one being for HC and the other for OF. In fact I think the only thing I found contradicts what I said so…scratch that. Maybe it’s pendant and lever set? There I go trying to remember stuff again. Also nothing yet on the balance/hairspring. I still lean toward the two being interchangeable but definitely not sure at this point. I checked the pocketwatch data base site and it shows that the two movements share 96.2 percent of the parts. That’s getting pretty close. Here’s the link if you haven’t been there yet http://pocketwatchdb.anthologyweb.com/parts/catalog/elgin/1490/118
I’ll thumb through the books some more to see if there’s any info hiding in them.Bob
August 21, 2014 at 5:25 am #59044Thanks for the link Bob…
Sorry to be missing from the forum lately,..lots going on here at the ranch, and some of it not pleasant. The 118 is a lever set. I have one that has a bad H/S that I’m trying to find a donor for.
I’ll check out the link….thanks again for digging into this for me.
Adios Compadre….
August 22, 2014 at 10:47 pm #59045Hey Randy,
Hope things settle down and get better for you soon up there.
Looks like the hairspring is interchangeable between the 118 and 119 as well as other calibers. Didn’t have info in my books but found it up on the database site. Take a look at this link http://pocketwatchdatabase.com/parts/catalog/elgin/X806/118
Hope that’s the info you’re looking for.
Take care for now,
BobAugust 23, 2014 at 9:07 am #59046Thanks Bob…really appreciate the help !
I’m also hoping things get back to normal here soon,..whatever that is !Best
Randy
