So im servicing an elgin full plate and when i tightened the balance cock screw fully it stops. I took it apart again and noticed a little divot in the cap jewel. I have to find a replacement which if anyone has any suggestions as to where i can just buy the jewel rather then buying a whole new donor movement that would be great. The other question is has anyone else ran into this situation with a divot in the cap jewel that causes the balance to stop when fully tightened? Thanks

Have you checked the pivot length? I sounds like it might be a little long. If you have some thin shim stock, you can put a piece under the balance cock then tighten it down. If it runs then that might be an indication that the balance staff is the incorrect length. Additionally, in those full plate watches, it can be difficult to tell if the pivot seated in the jewels properly.

        Just a few thoughts…
