I need new bearings on my Dumore sensitive drill press. Has anyone changed theirs? I can’t get the bottom (nearest the chuck) bearing to let go of the spindle. The top was tight, but was easy enough to coax off. The bottom one is begging me for a “bigger hammer” and I’m out of ideas. Anyone got any?

Can you make up some kind of puller to get it out?

            Van,
Do you already have the replacement bearings? I believe around last march something broke on your Dumore while you were trying to install an Albrecht Drill Chuck. Did you get that problem fixed? Usually you can remove a tight bearing by applying heat from a tourch and tapping it off with a sleeve, but it will destroy the bearing. Make sure you do not damage the spindle in the process.
You also previously inquired about a SINCERE LATHE awhile back. There are now several videos on Youtube showing these lathes. One is on the WATCH REPAIR CHANNEL where he shows how to change a belt. They are nice machines for small parts but the prices on these things seem to be going up.

A mechanic at work was able to get behind the bearing and pull it. I have no idea how he did it because I sure couldn’t find the space to get behind it, but that’s why he’s the mechanic and I’m the pilot…

I got the drill press working again; thanks for the inquiry. I’ve also decide to wait on the Sincere until next summer, but if the prices are rising as you say I may have to think about that one a bit.
