      Hey Fellas,

I saw a guy do this while he was servicing a Rolex watch. However, I wasn’t all that impressed with his technique, work environment, work flow, and…dirty fingernails.

But I wanted to ask – has anyone ever greased the castle/crown wheel? He gooped it up really well (if you want to put it that way…)

      Best,

      Tim :)

Crown Wheel AKA, ( winding pinion ) and Castle Wheel, AKA ( Clutch gear ).
I lightly grease the teeth on the crown wheel that meet the teeth on the castle wheel.
I do the same on the outside of the castle wheel, as it bears against/slides in the “ways”.
I also lube the stem, so that it glides easily through the slots in both gears Tim
Hope this helps…and that I explained it correctly !

          Thank you Randy,

As usual, you provide solid advice with a firm basis for your actions. Ever think of becoming a watchmaker? :):):)

          Best,

          Tim :)
