Hi, I am new here. I have a D & A wall clock that came in with the strike out of sync. It is a rack and snail mechanism. I adjusted the snail so the point of the rack is on the correct spot of the cam. However, at 11 o’clock the clock strikes 12 times. After that it strikes correctly until the next 11 o’clock time. Any suggestions?

Do you mean that it strikes 2 times 12? Once at 11 and once at 12 o’clock?

February 5, 2015 at 7:30 am #61629I had this problem recently and it was due to the arm that is attached to the rack and works on the snail. If you move that arm which should be a tight friction fit away from the rack, i.e making the angle greater, it will stop the rack dropping quite so far. It will need a very small adjustment, as if you move it to far it will affect the other hours.
