Best way to adjust Hermle time to chime

Howdy,

I have a Hermle 1051-30A movement that has the time to chime out of sync. It chimes about 5 minutes past the time it is supposed to. I followed the instructions in the new Hermle course but realized after I pressed the chime cam (I forget what it’s really called) on that I didn’t consider aligning it with where the minute hand would be when the chime lever falls off a lobe. So, what’s the best way to adjust the chime cam? Remove it, align it and drive it down? Or, hold the shaft square and rotate the cam? It’s tight so I’m betting that is not the way to go.

Hey Jeff,

Simple fix. Really!

Hermle & Kieninger clocks have the minute hands on moveable bushings. So you can actually use the clock chime where it’s at and set the minute hand to match.

Remove the minute hand and look on the back side where it fits on the square shaft. The bushing will either have flats or just round. Either way you can use a pair of needle nose (preferably with teeth so you can grip the bushing) and hold the hand while you gently turn the bushing (or vice versa). I usually stop the clock on the hour so the minute shaft doesn’t turn, and make the adjustment to the hand bushing. Refit the hand / repeat until you get it where you want. Tighten it down and your good to go.

Easy fix.

Mike, Sorry for the late reply, but thanks a lot for your help! The fact that the minute hand has a bushing mounted on it is not obvious by any degree, I thought that the square hole bushing was brazed on
