All:
I’m just wondering if this booklet is worth buying?
American Pocket Watch and Wrist Watch Balance Staff Interchangeability ListThanks,
TomJuly 1, 2014 at 1:22 pm #58301Hi Tom,
Yes absolutely worth having if you are working on American watches and have a lathe to modify staffs on. I have had my copy for many years and find it very valuable.Bob

Thanks my friend – I’m bidding on it now. Would it be possible (when you have the time that is) that you might provide everyone with a required reading list? We probably have most of the instructional books, but these types… I doubt it.Thanks so much!
TomJuly 1, 2014 at 1:52 pm #58303Tom,
If you get it would you run me off a copy. I have a binding machine and can put covers on it.

Certainly!

July 1, 2014 at 2:05 pm #58305Tom,
If that is a book full of staff and pivot dimensions then is is a must have item.
davidJuly 1, 2014 at 2:33 pm #58306Yes it has tons of dim. info. as well as bottle numbers etc.
Here are 2 snap shots. I bought my copy many moons ago from Roy Ehrhardt and have almost worn it out. VERY useful manual.
July 1, 2014 at 2:42 pm #58307Sorry Tom,
I forgot to answer you. Yes of course. I would be happy to make a list.
Here’s a link for now that may be of help to a video I made in response to Jonathans (jnachman) post a couple of years ago that covers a few great resource books. I think I also mention the book ‘Complicated Watches’ which is a good parts making and adjusting reference. .viewtopic.php?f=2&t=257&p=1109&hilit=complicated+watches#p1109
Give me a little time for the list and I’ll post it in a separate thread…maybe in the resource forum.
Ok, back to the World Cup.
Adios ,

July 2, 2014 at 4:42 pm #58310Hey Tom that’s great that you were able to find all of them.
Yes the Esembl-O-Graph book series is rather collectible. The DVD is very reasonable though.
I purchased the ETA catalogs directly from ETA. Not sure if they are still available as it’s been many years since I bought mine.Bob
July 2, 2014 at 5:14 pm #58311Bob:
There is so much data online as you demonstrated in the video, that I’m not sure one would need the catalog – except for being old like me where I like to be able to put my hands on the data. I suppose one could just print out everything but that would be REAMS of paper.
Thanks!
TomJuly 3, 2014 at 5:52 am #58312Tom I was getting ready to bid on that manual. 😆 Glad I read this as I really don’t want to bid against you. I tried looking for one but so far haven’t found anything. I did find a Elgin Service manual from the beginning to the 1930’s, a Waltham 1958 service manual, a 1958 C E Marshall watch material manual, and a Swigart.

Bernie:
I you want it, go for it. Those are pretty easy to find on eBay. I buy too much stuff on there anyway.

TomJuly 3, 2014 at 1:11 pm #58314No Tom I won’t bid against ya. If I need the info I know where I can find it and besides like you I do like info at my hands but since I am not going to be doing this on a daily basis just my own or if a customer happens to bring one in with his/her clocks I can also watch for one. Don’t let it get away.
