      Holy Jamoeley,
My mind has officially been blown this morning @ 2 am. I’m watching the 3rd watch video where Bob is explaining the lever winding mechanism and I’ve grown a new love and appreciation for the pocket time piece. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved them….truly I have , but to see how the lever/clutch/transmission/rachet wheel assembly works in such detail (thank you, Bob); how back in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, man was able to produce such small intricate mechanisms of absolute beauty…Blows my mind. 😮 😯
My hats off to those who went before us.
If I were pressed to produce a rachet wheel today and my life depended on it, I’d be hard pressed to pull it off in any short legnth of time or with consistant accuracy. And this was done over 100 years ago.Whew!!!
      Back to my cave…

I have often wondered the same thing Ren. How the heck did they make some of that stuff with the equipment or lack thereof they had. Blows my mind.

          Ren,

That’s the draw for me – at least, one of the big ones. The thought, the design, and most importantly, the ACTION of the piece is enough to make me swoon and my heart to go pitter patter…

Beautifully machined items; functionality; accuracy; simplicity; complexity…it all gets me going! I’m right there with ya, Buddy!

          Best,

          Tim :)

              Paul,

What I love most is the imperfect tick tock. I really, really enjoyed that, thank you. Had only seen pictures previously.

              Best,

              Tim :)

So much for “I need more/bigger/better/more expensive/more accurate tools to do watchmaking, huh? ;)
                Just do it!!
