I just got done adding a new suspension spring to a 400 day clock. I used the 400 day clock repair guide, lined all the parts up exactly to the template for the type of movement my clock has. The problem is the pendlum is just above the brass cup at the bottom. Should I lower the bottom block so that it will enter the brass cup? Thanks

        Hello Chaplin,
Yes it should rest in the small cup but not touch the bottom. This so if the clock was bumped, the pendulum will not swing and damage anything. Make sure it’s centered and level.
        Good luck!

Yes it should. Don’t take those lengths as gospel. Been doing 400 days for 30 yrs and have had them bottom out in the bottom of the cup as well as be above the cup. Just make sure you have the proper thickness and you’ll be fine.
