I am having issues setting the warning on the chime side. It is different from the Hermle and Kieninger movements I’ve rebuilt in the past. It has removable barrels so I thought setting each in sequence would be a breeze. I was wrong. Note the armature in the upper right in the pics. I will attach pictures and if anyone has recommendations or solutions I would appreciate them. Thanks, Larry
January 9, 2025 at 6:34 pm #71438Good to see you up here, Larry!
I’m not able to see much in the photos due to poor lighting.
It does look like the lever is set to silent mode. You’ll need to allow the long lever flags that pass through the plate to engage and release the pins to do their thing by taking it out of silent. I’m guessing you probable just set it to silent mode for now to stop the train from running away..but thought I would point that out just in case. It should be much the same set up as most other non auto-correcting modern movements.
Again, can’t really see what’s happening in the photos.
If you can give a bit more info on what’s failing after setting the warn that might help to determine what the problem is.Bob
January 10, 2025 at 9:50 am #71439Bob, thanks for your reply. I will post a couple more pictures but maybe it would help if you had a reference for setting up non-automatic correction movements that I could read or watch. This movement has 2 curved arms on the upper right side with corresponding pins on 2 of the wheels. Not sure what position to put them in or how to set the flat black strike wheel on the front. I’ve got the strike and time sides working, just having trouble setting the chime side if that makes any sense.
January 12, 2025 at 11:02 am #71443Hi Larry,
Thanks for putting the new pics up here.
I’m not able to find the exact movement that you have but you’ll find that most chiming mechs setups are very similar. Even the ones with auto-correction. The underlying chiming warn setup follows the same principal with or without the auto-correction.Take a look at Lesson 5 in the Hermle course where we show the chime warn setup. It should be helpful.
Also, here’s a link to a Gustave Becker clock chime that also might help with the setup: https://mb.nawcc.org/threads/gustav-becker-mantle-clock-chime-problem.194445/For those reading this post who might be wondering why the warn is so important in a chime and strike clock please take a look at the following forum topic at my other website Clock Repair Tips .com : https://clockrepairtips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2268
Please let us know if this helps and how things go Larry. Fingers crossed here.

January 14, 2025 at 5:20 am #71450Thanks Bob. NAWCC thread had a couple of good pictures. I was able make a couple of adjustments and the movement is functioning like a clock should. I have another movement similar to this one and will use what I learned from this one. Appreciate your help!
