Hello, I have disassembled, cleaned, re-assembled and lubricated this Kieninger clock. The only problem is that on the 3/4 hour it goes into warning but doesnt release the cam to play the melody. This puts it out of synch by 1/4 each hour. Any advise is greatly appreciated!!!!

I’m not familiar with that movement, although I’m sure I’ve service one before.  But it sounds like it could be an auto-correct problem.  Forgive me if you already know this, but when setting the time on most modern movements, if you don’t pause at every quarter hour, the clock will chime on the first and second quarter, but not on the third quarter in order to “reset” the chime and strike to the correct hour.  If the levers involved with the self-correction cams are not set correctly, it might present the problem you’re experiencing.  A picture of that portion of the clock may be helpful.

Thank you for the responses.  I fooled around with the coordination of the auto correct cam and the quarter hour cam.  The levers that ride on the autocorrect and the run cam are inside the plates and the cams are on separate wheels. This is only the second movement I have completely torn down and put back together. The computer animations of the Hermele class helped with understanding the logic of the parts and their purpose. This hobby is great and this group also.  Thanks to all of you.

            Hi Bryan,

So does it play the 3/4 hour or is it the hour that is not being played? When it locks at the 3/4 hour (auto-correct) are the 2 cams in sync with each other? And when it gets to the hour (long spoke on the hour shaft) does it release the chime to run? I have done quite a few Kieningers and they can be fussy when it comes to getting the chimes snyc’d in. If I understand your original post, if it is going into warn, then the auto-correct has been satisfied, as the longer hook for that function would prevent it from going into warn altogether. When it drops out of warn, it the warn pin still getting captured by the hook or is it not being released from warn?

            Mike
