I worked on 2 triple chime moveme ts, a Hermle with barrels and a Kieninger. They both worked on the test stand for a week. I put the one in its grandfather case clock and I put the other one on its wall case.
What is occurring now is that both clocks stop around the 54/55 mark just before it goes into warn. The pendulums just stop tick rocking until I hand turn the minute hand past the hour and then it tick rocks again.
I am stymied as theovent appears to be running fine. I let down thethe chime side on both and it still stops. They will run for a few hours, but then stop
Can anyone give me a direction on where to look?
Thank you
Joe

July 21, 2025 at 1:19 pm #72400Hi Joseph. It sounds like something is preventing the cam on the minute arbor from lifting and unlocking the chime train. You may want to sstart at that point and move forward from there. Can you post pictures of the two movements?
July 31, 2025 at 4:08 am #72426I guess the other images are too large and have to learn to make them smaller. It stops just before warn and if I put slight pressure on the minute hand, it will tick tock when I start the pendulum. I stop and it stops. I then turn the minute hand past the 12 o clock mark and start the pendulum and it tick tocks on its own.
I wonder if I should be removing things as a troubleshoot and see at what point it keeps going. I just dont pick up on anything amiss
July 31, 2025 at 4:10 am #72427** The Keininger movement: The gentleman came back from vacation and I removed the faceplate and it has know been running for over 24hrs. We will see if it continues.
July 31, 2025 at 3:24 pm #72434By “faceplate” I assume you are talking about the dial. So something on the back of the dial appears to be interfering with the movement of the minute hand. I suggest re-installing the dial and see if it stops again. That should narrow things down quite a lot for you.

January 10, 2026 at 2:14 pm #73231We’re all still learning, Joseph. That’s kind of the beauty of it.
