I have a beginner question. I have reached the point in my study of clock repair that I want to replace some bushings. I have KMW reamers, and all the equipment that I need for bushing replacement. However, I have not been able to find bushings. I ordered a ” generous assortment of bushing sizes” from a clock supply house, none were even close to fitting the pivots on the clock I am working on. Then I ordered a larger assortment from EBay, and received a large assortment of threaded bushings.
What and from whom do I order bushings? The clock I am working on is a “no name” clock. I have measured pivots on it from 0.9 mm to 1.2 mm. The clock plates are 1.4 mm thick and the out side diameter varies depending on how much I have to remove. I would like to get the best value possible.
Thanks for any help.
WHammonds3October 16, 2016 at 6:19 pm #64105I order mine from Timesavers. He has a great selection. You can find them at http://www.timesavers.com. You can get a phone number from there and have them send you a catalog. 1.2 mm bore would be a L-39. L-10 to L-13 are from .6 mm to .9 mm. You can see bushings here http://timesavers.com/search.html?q=bushings&go=Search. Also you will need to bush clocks and can get them in brass or bronze. I would use brass. I have now for over 33 yrs. This is also a must have IMHO. http://timesavers.com/i-24048833-kwm-pivot-gauge.html It is expensive but worth every penny.
Another thing I would not use those screw in bushings. To me those are a no-no in clock repair.
