      All:

I love these old vocational videos. I often think that we should be training young folks like this today but, you can’t go back I guess.

      Enjoy!

I agree but the Health and Safety guys, not to mention the Insurance companies just won’t have it or make it so expensive it would make a course so expensive nobody could afford to take it. Its a very sad state of affairs :)
        Paul.
Nice to see you around still around Tom :)

I agree with Paul. All the rules and regs of today is just killing everything. When I apprenticed under my mentor he said he didn’t care that I was going to do it like he did and his father did. I apprenticed under him for 7 yrs.

Speaking of rules and regs. did you notice the lack of ear and eye protection in the video? (Not to mention that the lathe tool was ground without a chip breaker – those long spirals coming off a lathe may LOOK impressive, but they can be super dangerous)

Thanks Tom, I enjoyed the video. I agree that this was a very good way to form good craftsman, but as you said, we can’t go back :(

                All:

TubalCain (a.k.a. Mr. Pete) on YouTube nailed down the problem with America.
