    Hi Mark,
    Bob’s videos give a clear methods of bushing, run through those again to see which tools you will need and how its done. If you want to only make a slightly bigger hole because you are worried about breaking out the surrounding material you can use what is known as a “bouchon”, these are bushes mainly used for french clocks but also come in handy for the above type of situation.

    They have a part on the top which you use to hammer them in and then it snaps off leaving the bush in place. If the remaining bush is too thick, i.e. it extends too far out from the plates then it can be just filed until level.
