Your suggestion worked beautifully. I was able to gently compress the collet with an inverted concaved staking punch. The hairspring collet fits snuggly on the staff now.
Such a wonderful sense of accomplishment when you bring an old watch back to life. I don’t know what we would do without your guidance. Thanks again.
